Motivation is a key factor in driving action, and it stems from various sources, including needs, values, and abilities. As an employee, it is important to stay motivated to ensure job security, fulfillment, growth, respect, and collaboration. In this article, we will explore my personal sources of motivation as an employee and how leaders can engage their followers to stay motivated.
Identification and Analysis
Individual motivation occurs when internal and external factors align with needs and values. Although job security, job fulfillment, job growth, respect, and collaboration are all important aspects of motivation, situational factors determine which aspects are required at a given time. Leaders study motivation to determine the correlation between individual motivation, employee satisfaction, productivity, and employee retention. The leader’s role in motivation is to identify and determine how to engage their followers.
Leader-Follower Relationship
There are two ways to approach individual motivation within the leader-follower relationship: a pull stance and a push position. In a pull stance, leaders listen to what motivates their followers, while in a push position, leaders assume that all followers are motivated equally. While developing an overarching employee motivation message may be advantageous, motivation is a personal concept.
My Personal Sources of Motivation
My personal sources of motivation include job security, job fulfillment, job growth, respect, and collaboration. When these aspects align, I feel motivated and fulfilled in my role. However, motivation is situational, and not all aspects are required all of the time.
The Power of Motivational Quotes
Finally, I find that motivational quotes can be a powerful tool for staying motivated. The quote that keeps me going is, “If at first, you don’t succeed, try, try again.” This quote reminds me that failure is not the end and that persistence is key to success.
In conclusion, staying motivated as an employee is essential for job satisfaction, productivity, and overall success. By identifying and analyzing personal sources of motivation, leaders can engage their followers to stay motivated. Motivation is a personal concept, and situational factors determine which aspects are required at a given time. And when all else fails, a motivational quote can boost you to stay motivated and achieve your goals.
