Cultivating a Culture of Trust and Respect: My Journey as an Adjunct Professor and Healthcare Leader

As an international adjunct professor, I have been fortunate to teach outside the United States. My passion for teaching stems from my love for reading and writing. I find great joy in inspiring people through my writing and equally enjoy imparting knowledge to my students.

My journey as an educator has taught me a lot, not only about the subject matter but also about the people and cultures I have encountered. It has allowed me to learn from different perspectives and share my experiences. Education is the key to unlocking one’s full potential, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of that process.

In addition to my teaching career, I am also a healthcare leader with over 10 years of experience. Through this journey, I have had the opportunity to learn and grow in various capacities. As a change agent, I have been involved in implementing innovative solutions that have transformed the healthcare organizations.

I have learned that being a healthcare leader comes with its own set of challenges. One of the most significant challenges is handling crises and challenging situations that may arise in the business. My approach to such situations is to immediately address the issues that are affecting the organization. Once the situation is stabilized, I gather all possible facts so that I can conduct a root cause analysis. This allows me to identify the underlying issues that led to the crisis and develop a plan to prevent such occurrences in the future.

Moreover, I would conduct a Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to ensure that other potential risks could be considered. My experience as a director of risk management at a large psychiatric hospital has given me an unfair advantage in handling crises and challenging situations.

My journey as a healthcare leader has taught me that leadership is not just about managing people, it’s also about inspiring them to do their best. It’s about having the courage to make difficult decisions and taking responsibility for the outcome. It’s about creating a culture of trust and respect where everyone feels valued and heard.

My journey as an adjunct professor and healthcare leader has been a fulfilling one. It has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. I look forward to continuing this journey and making a positive impact on the lives of those around me.
